🎶 A Piece of My Father, Passed Down with Purpose

ree

This Victrola and cabinet have been part of my life for longer than most of the furniture I’ve restored. My dad brought them back to life decades ago, pouring his time and care into every detail. Growing up, he made me listen to music from the early 1900s that sounds like it should be in a silent movie. Yes, I had a love/hate relationship with that Victrola.

In his later years, he couldn’t keep up with the repairs, and after he passed, they came to me—quiet reminders of his craftsmanship and the kind of man he was.

I restored them with the same reverence he once did. Every pass of the sander, every polish of the brass felt like a conversation with him. I tried placing them in my home, hoping they’d settle in—but they never quite fit the space. And I couldn’t bear the thought of selling them to someone who wouldn’t know the story behind them.

So I sold them to my cousins, Lynn and Rex—along with about a hundred 78 rpm records. I know they’ll give this piece a good home, and more importantly, keep it in the family. That matters to me. It’s not just furniture. It’s memory. It’s music. It’s legacy.

If you believe furniture can hold stories, I’d love for you to follow along. I would love to be part of its new story to tell your family three generations from now. This is the heart of Revitalized Revivals.
